What is PhotoCraft?
PhotoCraft is an open-source image editor modeled on the Photoshop workflow. It's written in Rust, compiled to WebAssembly for the web, and renders on the GPU through WebGPU with a WebGL2 fallback. It's licensed under MIT and Apache-2.0.
Its goal is simple: if you know Photoshop, you should feel at home. That means the same layer model, the same panel names, the same tools and the same keyboard shortcuts, plus real reading and writing of PSD files.
What you can do with it
- Open and save PSD and PSB files with layers, masks, adjustment layers, layer styles, Smart Objects and type
- Non-destructive adjustment layers and smart filters
- Selections: Select Subject, Quick Selection, Magic Wand, Select and Mask
- Remove Background with an on-device model
- Retouching: Spot Healing, Patch, Clone Stamp and Content-Aware Fill
- A Camera Raw–style filter, plus blurs, distortions, Oil Paint and Lighting Effects
- Pen tool, shapes, gradients and pattern fills
- Interface in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish and more
Why use PhotoCraft through PS Online?
Building a Rust and WebAssembly project yourself takes a toolchain, time and disk space. PS Online gives you the same editor at a single URL:
- Instant. Open the editor and start working.
- Private. It's still PhotoCraft running in your tab, and your files are never uploaded.
- Everywhere. Works in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS.
